This post marks the first of documenting my food journey in Seoul 🙂 My friends have been asking me about good food to try out in Seoul, so I decided to start documenting the various food that I like, new food finds and maybe even places to go!
The first place I’d like to introduce everyone is Tosokchon Ginseng Chicken (토속촌). Many people have blogged about this amazing place already but still, this is too delicious to ignore!
Take the subway to Gyeongbokgung Station (Line 3). Walk and exit the subway via Exit 2. When you exit, walk straight ahead. Here are some shops that you will pass by, to ensure that you are going the correct way: Paris Baguette, Popeyes, Etude House, Jaws Ddeokbokki (this is damn amazing too by the way!).
By the time you pass by this shop, it would be at the end of the path, and there will be a GS25 around the corner.
Turn left around GS25 and right ahead you will see Tosokchon.
Every single time I visit this place, there will be a long queue. However, the place is rather huge and so the waiting time wouldn’t be very long. Generally, I have waited for about 10-15 minutes for each visit.
Inside Tosokchon, there are many different rooms. You can request for those where you need not remove your shoes, if you want to avoid all the hassle.
At each table there will be 2 jars – kimchi and radish. The kimchi here is one of my favourite ones in Seoul! It’s fresh, cooling and not too spicy.
Tosokchon’s Ginseng Chicken ❤
I always order the standard Tosokchon Ginseng Chicken (as shown in the photo above), and it costs 15,000krw. There are other dishes there like seafood pancake, roasted chicken etc. However, I mostly just order the Ginseng Chicken because it’s too heavenly to give this up slurrrrps.
Address: 5, Jahamun-ro 5-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul
Operating hours: 10am-10pm daily
This is a must try if you ever visit Seoul! Highly recommended 😀
Love, J ❤
